A picture of Ephraim Predmore
Benjamin and Azuba Cramer Predmore welcomed their son Ephraim to the world on January 18th 1786, a cold winter day in Barnegat, Ocean County, New Jersey. Interestingly, Davy Crockett was born in Limestone, Tennessee the same year as Ephraim. Ephraim would out live Crockett, who died at the Alamo in 1836 by twenty-three years. Two other interesting things happened in 1786, the United States Mint was established and Fr. Lasuen established Mission Santa Barbara in California. Many of Ephraim Predmore’s descendants would settle in California long after his death.
Ephraim married Mary A. Brown on February 10, 1810 in Monmouth, New Jersey. He was 24 years old and Mary was 19 years old. On June 3, 1829, Ephraim donated money to help build the Barnegat Free Church in Stafford, New Jersey, which was to be open to Christian preachers of any denomination. Around 1833 or 1834 Ephraim and Mary moved with their eleven children to Jackson Township, Clermont County, Ohio. Their last two children Frances and William were born in Clermont County, which would bring the number of children Ephraim and Mary had to 14. Ephraim continued to farm in Ohio as he had done in New Jersey. Ohio tax records for 1837 show Ephraim owning 200 acres of farm land in Jackson Township, which was valued at $723 dollars. He had to pay $70.47 in taxes for his land .

In 1858, Ephraim went to visit his son Joseph Predmore in Hadley, Pike County, Illinois. He died on January 12, 1859 in Hadley and was buried in Winner Cemetery in Hadley. Mary lived until April 7, 1863.
